Thomas Tyrrell is a very gifted interior & exterior designer with a unique approach to his work, particularly at the concept development stage where he creates stunning hand-drawn sketches and watercolour renderings of the spaces he’s commissioned to design. When Thomas commissioned me to create a logo & identity which truly convey the essence of his style as a creative, I was excited. It’s always a pleasure to work with a fellow creative, but there is also added pressure to come up with something special! I’m pleased to say that with a truly collaborative effort we did just that.
He wanted his logo to be sophisticated and classy but still show a unique personal flare that connected to his style, so of course initially we explored a wide range of logos that incorporated the use of a hand-drawn signature. While many of these were quite strong, they lacked something and felt a little… cliché? We decided to pursue something that really and truly felt synonymous with a Classic Artisan, a timeless approach rather than one that follows short lived trends.
Ideally the logo would also hold some relevance to interior design, and that’s how we can to select a typeface with sharp, angular edges and an almost building-like structural element to it. The symbol uses a mirrored TT split down the middle, perfect as using two T’s side by side in full just wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, and by creating something a little abstract it’s far more unique and identifiable.
The monogram background works very nicely alongside the logo in some situations, and providing Thomas with all of the separate elements ensures he is able to use the logo in it’s simplest or most complex form dependent on the situation.
“Jason was really helpful at helping me to create a logo for my new business. He was efficient and professional. He was already recommended to me by someone and I would be more than happy to do the same.” – Thomas Tyrrell
