It was a pleasure working with Will It Make The Boat Go Faster, a goal-driven performance consultancy best known for its clear, practical approach to leadership and organisational change. The project centred on expanding their existing brand identity and translating it into a highly considered, premium brochure designed to communicate both depth and clarity.
Building on the established identity, I first developed a bespoke suite of icons to support the consultancy’s structured methodology and make complex ideas easier to navigate visually. These icons became a key part of the wider visual language, helping to reinforce consistency while adding clarity and rhythm throughout the document.
The brochure itself was carefully designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the consultancy: introducing its philosophy, outlining programmes and approach, showcasing success stories, and sharing background on founder Ben Hunt-Davis, Olympic gold medallist and central figure behind the brand. The challenge was to present a large amount of information in a way that felt confident and authoritative—without becoming dense or overwhelming.
To achieve this, the layout balances strong typography, considered pacing and engaging imagery, allowing the content to breathe while still delivering a substantial level of detail. Facts, figures and performance metrics are visualised clearly, making them easy to digest at a glance, while longer-form content is structured to guide the reader naturally through the story.
The result is a polished, visually engaging brochure that reflects the consultancy’s credibility and ambition, while remaining accessible and compelling. It continues to play an important role within the brand and is proudly showcased on their website as a cornerstone piece of communication.
