Cameo Photography have a range of wedding photography that is to die for; but they needed to present it in a way that would truly impress high end Event Planners and of course Brides. After much research, brainstorming and many concepts, we decided upon a wax seal; to be used on both the cover of an exquisite hand bound portfolio, and the personal welcome pack each bride receives from Cameo. Wax seals / stamps are incredibly elegant, popular and highly sort after by many businesses wishing to convey a personal touch and premium level of service.
The portfolio itself was a collaborative effort between myself and Luca Farinelli at Cameo Photography; with some wonderful little details including a translucent title page, Italian Gesso fine art paper and a custom presentation box complete with a ribbon to lift out the portfolio.
The combination of silver wax printed on a high quality textured paper, or of a gold foil stamped in the same design on the white linen of the portfolio really have that wow factor. When presenting to not just brides, but the meticulous event planners at top venues such as the Ritz Hotel, or Dorchester London – you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. Cameo have enjoyed significant success using this new portfolio, and were even invited by the Ritz to organise an in-house Bridal Photoshoot for the Ritz own marketing team.
There are many wax seals and wax stamps out there, with ready made designs or basic lettering; but it really is worth going the extra mile and having a custom design created just for you. I had to source a company in the US and get the stamp shipped over just to achieve the level of complexity we insisted on for this particular design! Sometimes working hard (and spending a little extra) to perfect those small details goes a long way.
Case Study
Opportunity
Cameo’s wedding work is exquisite, but high-end event planners and luxury venues decide on credibility in seconds. There was an opening to elevate first impressions with a tactile, presentation-grade portfolio and welcome pack—something that telegraphed craft, care and premium service the moment it’s in hand.
Objectives
-
Create a distinctive, custom wax seal that becomes a signature of the brand.
-
Design a hand-bound portfolio and bridal welcome pack with genuine “wow” on opening.
-
Specify materials and finishes that feel museum-quality without being ostentatious.
-
Ensure the system works for intimate meetings and formal venue pitch settings.
Insight & Strategy
For this audience, materials are the message. We paired an ownable seal—designed from scratch and produced to a high level of detail—with a presentation experience that rewards touch: translucent opening page, fine art paper and a bespoke box with a ribbon lift. The tone is editorial calm and ceremony, not glitter.
Design Solution
-
Custom Wax Seal: Bespoke artwork engineered for crisp relief; produced via a specialist manufacturer to achieve the level of intricacy required. The seal is used on portfolio covers and the bridal welcome pack for a consistent, signature moment.
-
Portfolio Build: Hand-bound piece using Italian gesso fine-art paper, opening with a translucent title page to set an elegant pace.
-
Finishes: Two premium treatments were specified: silver wax printed onto textured stock for stationery, and gold foil of the same seal design on a white linen portfolio cover for a heightened, archival feel.
-
Presentation Box: A custom case with ribbon lift ensures the portfolio is easy to handle in meetings and feels precious without fuss.
Competitive Edge Now
The kit signals craft and exclusivity before a single image is reviewed. The custom seal becomes a memory trigger, the materials feel gallery-grade, and the opening sequence quietly raises expectations—ideal for conversations with discerning planners at top venues.
What This Enables
Stronger first-meeting theatre with planners and hotels, a premium welcome experience for prospective brides, and a presentation set that aligns the brand’s perceived value with the calibre of its work—supporting invitations to collaborate with prestige venues and partners.
